Waynesboro Police responded to a reported armed robbery last night, August 5, 2007, at the Quality Inn on Broad Street in the city. The call was received at approximately 10:21 P.M. from the clerk who told dispatchers that two male subjects had just entered the motel office, where one of them displayed a handgun and ordered him to open the register. The clerk complied with the demand and one of the subjects removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the drawer before running out of the office and heading south towards W. Main Street.
Waynesboro officers were assisted in a search of the area by an Augusta County K-9 which met with negative results in locating the suspects while Investigators processed the crime scene.
The suspects were both black males between 20-25 years of age and were wearing khaki colored masks that appeared to have been torn from a shirt. One of the subjects was observed to be wearing black t- shirt while the other had on a white one.
