Abduction Arrest
On 9/16/07 at approximately 10:22 P.M. Officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of Florence Ave. in reference to a male subject holding two female’s hostage with a shotgun in an apparent domestic situation. Upon arrival officers found that the females who were related to the suspect had managed to escape from the house and were no longer in danger, but had been held and threatened prior to police arrival. After securing a perimeter, negotiations were begun with the suspect who came outside but then ran back in after an attempt was made to take him into custody. Subsequently, Officers reestablished contact with the suspect who, very shortly, surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Police recovered several firearms from the residence as well as processed the scene for any evidence of the crime. No injuries were reported.
Richard Clemon Blair, 55 of Florence Ave. was charged with two (2) counts of Abduction, Brandishing a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a convicted Felon and Use of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He has been held in the MRRJ without bond pending an appearance in Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.
