It is with great sadness that the Waynesboro Police Department announces the death of its longtime K-9, Kizmet. Kizmet was a 12 year old German Shepard that the department acquired in December of 1999. He was immediately partnered with K-9 officer Det. Jesse Shaver who has been his handler ever since. Kizmet died Monday Sept. 10th after a short battle with Cancer. During his nearly 8 years of service he has been instrumental in several major drug cases and won several accolades for his accomplishments. He will not only be missed by Det. Shaver and his family but by the entire department and the city as a whole.
