The Staunton Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision at Barterbrook Road on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at approximately 0850 hours. Ethel Kincaid, 73, of Montgomery Road in Staunton was driving west when she ran off the road striking a tree just west of Sterling Street. Mrs. Kincaid was airlifted to the University of Virginia, and died a short time later as a result of her injuries. The only passenger in the vehicle, Mrs. Josephine Meyer, 82, of Frontier Drive in Staunton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
