CONTRACTS AWARDED IN THE STAUNTON DISTRICT - March 23


STAUNTON – In March 2007, Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner David Ekern approved several projects located in the VDOT Staunton District.

The Staunton District serves Clarke, Warren , Page, Frederick , Shenandoah, Rockingham, Augusta , Highland , Rockbridge, Alleghany, and Bath counties.

R.G. Griffith Inc. of Chantilly was awarded a $269,627.00 contract in Shenandoah County for new construction to provide industrial access to EchoStar Satellite LLC in the Mount Jackson Industrial Park located south of the town of Mount Jackson. The project will start at Route 698 ( Palmyra Church Road ) and Route 730 ( Turkey Knob Road ) and extends 0.34 mile northeast, roughly parallel to Route 698. The road will have a 24-foot wide surface with six-foot wide stone shoulders and constructed on 80 feet of donated right-of-way. The completion date is set for June 30, 2007.

DLB Inc. of Hillsville was awarded a $269,192.00 contract in Warren County at various locations for piping rehabilitation due to the existing deteriorated pipes. A completion date is set for June 1, 2007.

W-L Construction & Paving Inc. of Chilhowie was awarded three contracts for paving in several counties with paving done at various locations within those counties. The contract awards and values are as follows: in Shenandoah County a contract valued at $372,009.16; in Frederick County a contract valued at $1,339,934.10; and in Warren and Clarke counties a contract valued at $1,161,260.60.

Arthur Construction Co. Inc. of Herndon was awarded a $153,265.00 contract in Frederick and Shenandoah counties at various locations for miscellaneous concrete repair, which also includes curb and gutter repair on Route 11 (Old Valley Pike) and on Interstate 81 in the median. Repair is due to damaged or deteriorated concrete items. A completion date is set for May 31, 2007.

Snowy Mountain Inc. of Franklin , W.Va. was awarded a $139,036.50 contract in Rockingham County on various primary routes for miscellaneous concrete repair. The completion date is set for June 15, 2007.

B & S Contracting Inc. of Staunton was awarded a $1,894,758.15 contract in Augusta and Highland counties at various locations for paving operations.

Adams Construction Company of Roanoke was awarded three contracts for paving in several counties with paving done at various locations within those counties. The contract awards and values are as follows: In Alleghany and Bath counties a contract valued $949,417.21; in Rockbridge County a contract valued at $1,773,054.67; and in Page County a contract valued at $586,161.00.
