On 02/09/07 at 6pm. the Waynesboro Emergency Operations Center received a call in reference to a vehicle striking a power pole in the 800 block of S. Delphine avenue. As emergency personnel were responding to the scene they received a second call from an anonymous citizen stating that 3 black males had gotten out of the vehicle that struck the power pole and they were currently running North from the accident scene.
As emergency personnel arrived at the scene it was determined that a 1998 Chevrolet 4 door had struck a power pole and came to rest in the driveway of a residence in the 800 block of South Delphine avenue. Further investigation revealed that a 10 foot section of the power pole had been severed, two chain link fences had been damaged, an assortment of lawn ornaments had been damaged and three parked vehicles had sustained minor damage. The damage to the 1998 Chevrolet 4 door is estimated at $10,000. The damage to the parked vehicles, fences, lawn ornaments, and power pole is estimated at $5000.
Two juvenile passengers were questioned near the accident scene and were later released to their parents. An adult suspect was questioned by Police after the Waynesboro First Aid Crew responded to a call for service in reference to an adult male who had been injured in an accident. The adult male suspect was later taken to the hospital by family members.
This case is currently under investigation and charges are pending.
