WAYNESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT
MEDIA RELEASE
On 07/29/07 at 11:19pm the Waynesboro Police Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of North Forest avenue in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. The caller reported that 2 black males and 1 white male had robbed her at gunpoint and left in a red SUV with tinted windows and black wheels.
Upon arrival it was discovered that a brand new X-BOX gaming system had been taken from the victim. At approximately 11:33pm an officer observed the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Waynesboro Walmart and followed the vehicle until other officers arrived in the area. A traffic stop of the vehicle was conducted in the 200 block of Bookerdale Road and 3 suspects were subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
Antione Dwayne Goodwin, an 18 year old male from Waynesboro was charged with 1 count of robbery under Virginia code 18.2-58.
Charles Wilson Lewis III, an 18 year old male from Fishersville was charged as an accessory to the robbery.
Shawn Michael Guthrie, an 18 year old male from Stuarts Draft was also charged as an accessory to the robbery.
During a search of the suspect vehicle several small baggies containing suspected marijuana were also recovered. These will be sent to the State Crime Lab for further analysis.
No firearm was ever recovered during this incident.
All three suspects are currently being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail.
