Man Wonted For Abduction In Waynesboro - May 30

Waynesboro Police Department

Media Release

May 30, 2007

Abduction

On May 30, 2007 at approximately 1:30 am Waynesboro Police were summoned to a residence in the 1000 block of East Main Street. Upon arrival officers were met by a complainant who advised that a woman had ran to their door completely naked, badly beaten and being chased by a male subject as she entered the residence. The male subject fled the area when the complainant told him she was calling the police.

Upon making contact with the 30 year old Waynesboro woman it was discovered that she suffered from significant facial injuries that were consistent with being repeatedly assaulted. She was transported to Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville by rescue squad and later released after being treated for her wounds which included fractured facial bones and a broken rib.

The victim related that she was taken by force by her boyfriend, Albert L Tibbs and a female known possibly as “Melissa” earlier in the evening after the two suspects had followed her and a female friend to a convenience store on E. Main Street. The victim and a companion were in a vehicle near the Wilco Hess store when she observed her boyfriend and the unknown female in a blue GMC Yukon. Mr. Tibbs is reported to have been yelling at the victim, and in an attempt to evade the situation her companion drove to the Coastal Mart on E. Main Street where they entered the store and asked the clerk to call 911. Upon exiting the store she said she was physically grabbed and forced into the Yukon by both Tibbs and the female. At this point, she advised, Tibbs held her down in the rear floor board area of the vehicle where he physically and sexually assaulted her while the unknown female drove the vehicle. They drove to different locations over the next several hours, finally arriving at the victim’s residence which she shared with Tibbs. Here Tibbs and the female carried her into the residence, and Tibbs undressed her and left the house. At this point the victim ran out of her residence to the complainant’s house but Tibbs, who was apparently just outside, gave chase.

Police responded to Coastal Mart in response to the clerk’s call at approximately 9:30 pm on 5/29/07, but upon arrival found that all parties had left and no one could provide information beyond the caller’s report of a verbal argument.

Police have obtained warrants and are actively seeking the arrest of Tibbs who is described as a 38 year old black male, 5’10” approx. 210 lbs and goes by the nickname “Junnie”. He was last seen leaving the 1000 block of E. Main Street in the Blue GMC Yukon which is a 1999 year model with chrome spinners, and bearing Virginia License JNP-9396.

Officers are also looking for the female accomplice possibly known as “Melissa” who is described as a white female 25-30 years of age, 5’8” described as having brown hair and being of small build.

Warrants for Tibbs include Abduction, Malicious Wounding and Object sexual Penetration. He is to be considered Dangerous.

Identification of the female accomplice is underway and she will face similar charges.

The Waynesboro Police Department continues to investigate this case and requests anyone with information concerning the location of the suspects, identity of the female or facts of the case contact Detective Sue Vance at 540-942-6758 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017.
