On March 31, 2007 at approximately 2350 hours the Staunton Police Department responded to the 100 block of Baylor St for a report of shots fired. Lamar Anthony Waddy, 19, of Staunton, had been shot and was transported by Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad to Augusta Medical Center. Mr. Waddy was later transported to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Logan Ashby Atkins, 18, of no fixed address, was arrested on 04-01-07 by the Waynesboro Police Department. Atkins has been charged with malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The investigation into the shooting continues by the Regional Anti-Gang Enforcement Task Force and additional charges are anticipated.
