Barn At Rolling Knoll Farm Burnes To The Ground - April 8

Sunday 8, 2007 - 6:30 pm Fire destroyed a barn that was being refurbished in to a slaughterhouse. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Six fire companies responded. The barn was on the property of Rolling Knoll Farm.

The fire at 1146 Lee highway was dispatched at 18:28. The first engines arrived at 18:34. All units cleared up at 22:08. Cause in undetermined but possibly electrical in nature. There were 7 fire departments on scene, Verona, Staunton, Augusta county, Weyers Cave, New Hope, Preston Yancy, Swoope and Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad for medical standby. Total loss of approximately $500,000.
