40 Fierfighters Put Out Flames - April 16








































































Monday 16, 2007 – 7:00 pm 199 Bon Lea Drive Fire at a home in Bon Lea Estates on Monday night destroyed the garage but was contained to the garage and did not spared most of the residence.

The flames were spreading through the roof of a breezeway that connected the garage to the residence. Firefighters focused their efforts on saving the house. Most of the fire damage inside the home was contained in the attic. High winds helped keep the flames away from the house. This helped keep the fire a way from the house. A Mercedes was also damaged with one side melted.

Firefighters had to over come a fire hydrant that was inoperable. But where able to use a 2nd one to put out the fire. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from the Staunton Fire Department, Augusta County Fire Department, Churchville Fire and Rescue, Swoope Volunteer Fire Company, Preston L. Yancey Volunteer Fire Company, Middlebrook Fire Department, Verona Volunteer Fire Company responded. The Staunton Augusta County Rescue Squad and Waynesboro First Aid Crew also responded.
