Intersection Of Churchville Avenue And N. Augusta Street In Staunton Closed For Underground Utility Relocation - March 27

Contractors for the Virginia Department of Transportation will completely close the intersection of Churchville Avenue and N. Augusta Street in Staunton for underground utility relocation work beginning Thursday, March 29. The intersection and adjoining areas will be closed to all traffic around the clock for at least three-weeks. All traffic will be detoured around the construction area.

The utility relocation work, which has been ongoing along other sections of Churchville Avenue for some time, is part of preparations for the widening of Churchville Avenue.

The location of the construction necessitates a fairly extended detour over to Coalter Street. The detour will be clearly marked.

If you are going South on North Augusta Street past the Staunton Post Office… Turn left on Edgewood Road, then right on Coalter Street and proceed South. Turn right at the traffic light on Frederick Street after passing Mary Baldwin College.

To reach points South… Turn left on Augusta Street

To reach Churchville Avenue going West… Turn right off Frederick onto North Augusta, then turn left on Pump Street. From Pump Street turn right on Central Avenue, then left on Churchville Avenue and proceed West.

If you are going East on Churchville Avenue toward the Staunton Public Library… Turn right on Central Avenue, then left on Pump Street. In one block turn right to go South on Augusta Street.

To reach points South… Continue South on Augusta.

To reach Augusta Street going North… Turn left on East Beverley Street, go up the hill and turn left on Coalter Street. Go over the hill and past Mary Baldwin College to the traffic light at Edgewood Road. Turn left on Edgewood, then right on North Augusta Street.
