Wreck On 254 Throws Driver From Car - March 23

Friday 23, 2007 – 12:30 am Jeremy Ryan Smith 23, was driving west on 254 when his 1992 Honda Accord hit a guard rail, killing him. The Smith had been drinking and was driving approximately 80 miles per hour and left a skid mark of 160 feet. The guard rail entered the car on the right back passenger door hitting Smith in the head. Then he was ejected and he ended up underneath the guard rail where first responders found him and began trying to save his life. Smith was first taken to Augusta Medical Center with life treating injuries, and then was air lifted to UVA but 2 minutes into the air lift he died from his injuries.
