The Augusta County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery.

Around 1:50 p.m., officials say a man entered the Eastside Convenience store on Route 340, flashed a knife at the cashier and took an undisclosed amount of money.

The man, estimated to be about 5 feet 8 inches, was wearing black pants, a dark-blue hoody, a green polo shirt and a bandanna.

Three witnesses to the robbery chased the suspect back around the store to a trailer park where police say he jumped over a fence and lost his pursuers.

Police are also saying this robbery may be connected with two other robberies in Greene County.

The first one occurred around Noon Tuesday at Bootvil on Route 29. Police have released little information about this case, including whether or not the robber used a weapon.

The other incident occurred at the Ruckersville Food Lion. Witnesses say a man went up to the clerk and said his friend was holding a gun to someone's head at the back of the store.

There are no reports of injuries and it is not confirmed whether or not anyone was actually held hostage at gunpoint.

The investigation is ongoing and if you have any information, you are asked to contact the Augusta County Sheriff's Office at 540-245-5333.
