ADVISORY HAS BEEN POSTED FOR THE REST OF THE OUTLOOK AREA WEST OF
INTERSTATE 95. FREEZING RAIN THIS MORNING COULD PRODUCE ICE
ACCUMULATIONS AROUND A QUARTER OF AN INCH IN THE WARNING
AREA...WITH AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH IN THE ADVISORY AREA. PLEASE

ACROSS THE I-81 CORRIDOR HAVE STEADILY DROPPED TO JUST BELOW
FREEZING...WITH LIGHT ICING OCCURRING ACROSS THE AREA. THE HEAVIEST
ACTIVITY WILL CONTINUE TO BE EAST OF I-81 FROM NELSON COUNTY NORTH
TO I-66 AND ACROSS THE HIGHWAY 29 CORRIDOR. USE EXTRA CAUTION
WHILE DRIVING THIS MORNING...WITH A CONTINUED FREEZING OF RAINFALL
ON UNTREATED SURFACES THROUGH 7 AM...BEFORE TEMPERATURES GRADUALLY
RISE ABOVE FREEZING. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF A TENTH TO A QUARTER OF

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST TODAY.
LOW PRESSURE OVER KENTUCKY WILL TRACK WEST OF THE APPALACHIANS TODAY.
FREEZING RAIN AND RAIN HAVE OVERSPREAD THE MID ATLANTIC STATES.
WITH TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW FREEZING...PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED
TO FALL AS FREEZING RAIN THIS MORNING BEFORE TEMPERATURES WARM
THIS AFTERNOON. UP TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF ICE MAY ACCUMULATE
ALONG THE I-81 CORRIDOR. IN THE APPALACHIANS AND THE POTOMAC
HIGHLANDS...BETWEEN A QUARTER AND A HALF OF AN INCH OF ICE WILL BE
POSSIBLE.
AS THE SYSTEM DEPARTS THIS EVENING WIND GUSTS OF 30 TO 40 MPH
WILL BE POSSIBLE. THIS COULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE DOWNING OF TREES
AND POWER LINES WHERE ICE COATS THESE SURFACES. POWER OUTAGES WILL
BE POSSIBLE.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT SLEET AND ICE ARE
EXPECTED. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
