Homicide Investigation
As reported earlier, the Waynesboro Police Department continues to investigate a homicide that was discovered on
at a residence in the 300 block of Port Republic Road.
The 73 year old male victim, who resided at this residence, has been identified as Jay Bernard Butler. Mr. Butler was found deceased in the residence by police who made a forced entry after being summoned by a person described as a “care taker”. The” care taker “had responded to the scene after receiving communication that some harm may have come to Mr. Butler.
Officers discovered that Mr. Butler had suffered multiple trauma, however no precise cause of death has been determined pending the examination of the deceased by a medical examiner and an autopsy.
The preliminary investigation revealed two “persons of interest” in the case and a missing vehicle which belonged to the victim. This information was transmitted nationwide to all law enforcement agencies who were asked to “be on the lookout” for the persons and car.
Meanwhile Investigators processed the crime scene, collected evidence and conducted interviews with several persons connected to the case. This investigation continues, however, the two individuals identified earlier as” persons of interest” have at this time been deemed suspects and warrants for their arrest have been issued for violation of
The two suspects in the case, who are considered fugitives and believed to have fled the Commonwealth, are the daughter of the victim who resided with him in the residence, and her supposed boyfriend. They are identified as Natasha Maready, 28 and Brian James Roadcap, 27 who resides in
Maready is described as a white female 5’ 6” 260 -280 lbs with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Roadcap is described as a white male 6’ 0 “, 160lbs. with brown hair and Blue eyes.
The vehicle they are believed to have taken from Mr. Butler, and may still be in, is a 1997 bluish / green
Both Suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
