Animal Cruelty - November 10
The Staunton Police Department is conducting an investigation into animal cruelty and is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect in this case.
On November 6, 2007 Animal Control Officers found an adult brindle pit-bull abandoned
in a vacant lot behind 2628 West Beverley Street. The dog was malnourished and secured with a heavy chain.
On Friday November 16, 2007 at 10:00 am, there will be a hearing before the Staunton
General District Court at 113 East Beverley Street on the petition of the Staunton Police Department to determine whether the dog has been “abandoned, neglected, or cruelly treated and whether the owner or caretaker is able to adequately provide for such animal or is a fit or proper person to own such animal”. The owner is unknown at this time.
