Staunton Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy
Are you interested in learning more about Law Enforcement? Are you curious about the “life behind the badge”? If your answer is yes, then please join us for the 14th session of the Staunton Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy. The Staunton Police Department’s Citizen’s Police Academy will give participants a behind the scenes look at what it is like being a police officer. While attending the Citizen’s Police Academy participants will gain incite on how to be a police officer while experiencing similar conditions. Participants will also gain knowledge in many topics such as criminal law, criminal investigation, and illegal drugs. Participants will also experience hands on training with firearms, emergency driving, and defensive tactics. All courses are taught by certified law enforcement and civilian instructors. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must pass a criminal history check. Classes will be held on nine consecutive Monday nights starting March 10th from 6:30-9:30 p.m.. There will also be two Saturday morning classes from 9:00am to 1:00pm involving hands on training. Participants will be required to complete a four hour ride along with any unit in the department. The Academy class is limited to fifteen participants; applications can be obtained at the Staunton Police Department and are due by February 26, 2007.
