THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF VIRGINIA AND NORTHEAST WEST
VIRGINIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN VIRGINIA...
ALBEMARLE...AUGUSTA...CLARKE...CULPEPER...FAUQUIER...GREENE...
LOUDOUN...MADISON...NELSON...PAGE...RAPPAHANNOCK...ROCKINGHAM
AND WARREN. IN NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA...JEFFERSON.
* THROUGH LATE TONIGHT
* A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY...AN ABNORMALLY MOIST AIR MASS FOR
OCTOBER...AND FLOW OFF OF THE ATLANTIC AND GULF OF MEXICO WILL
ALL COMBINE TO PROVIDE POTENTIALLY HEAVY RAIN TO THE AREA. THE
EASTERN SLOPES OF THE BLUE RIDGE WILL STAND THE HIGHEST RISK FOR
HEAVY RAINFALL. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN WILL BE
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WATCH AREA...WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS ALONG THE
EASTERN SLOPES.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
